Batwing Reflector

Developed as an accessory for VYPR Series products, the Batwing reflector is a field-installable optic that redistributes light intensity away from the center of the lighting fixture. Using Near-Field Optical Obscuration, the reflector produces even illumination over a larger area, eliminating hot spots and reducing the number of fixtures required for a given area.

Role:

I was responsible for commercialization of the original design concept and managed tooling of the optical reflector and attachment hardware.

Design Considerations:

  • Reconfigure design for reduced shipping costs and retrofit functionality
  • Meet with various Legal teams to support provisional Intellectual Property filings
  • Perform optical benchmarking for comparison against industry standards
  • Interact with multiple suppliers to specify material selection, handling, and sourcing
