YETI Coolers – 2023

Launched in Q4 2023, the M12 backpack and M15 tote are expanded offerings in the YETI Hopper® series of soft coolers. Designed to be compact versions of their predecessors, both products offer expanded features and enhanced portability.

Role:

As the project’s lead Design Engineer, I was tasked with the initial design of the magnetic seal and internal spring boards. Working in tandem with our Soft Goods Developer, both products were designed and tested against a rigorous set of requirements.

Design Considerations:

  • Balance ease of access with sealing performance
  • Align with cross-functional teams to establish and refine product requirements
  • Utilize supplier DFM to optimize component manufacturability
  • Leverage FEA/MFA to predict material behavior and streamline the project timeline
  • Oversee design verification testing to confirm product performance
  • Produce components at multiple suppliers to diversify sourcing portfolio
